Decoration Tips to Help You De-Stress Your Home

Revive your home, and yourself, with these simple steps to de-stress your environment.

Whether you’re home from a parent-teacher meeting or a long day at work, it’s natural to want to unwind and relax in your house at the end of the day. With that said, it’s easy to slip into a routine of screen time and snacks until we head to bed.  This pattern prevents our bodies and minds from recharging. By setting up a space with care and establishing a few simple habits, you can choose to replenish your energy instead!

Undo stress through your environment with these tips!

Add green plants and fresh flowers. Living plants add fresh oxygen while removing toxins from the air. Adding fresh, living plants into our home is important. Beyond plants’ air-purifying effect, the act of tending to living plants or arranging flowers is a healthy way to let go of stress.

Engage your senses. Liven up your home a little! Add a fluffy rug, beautiful music, a scented candle, or some fun textiles to engage your senses throughout your home. Instead of switching on the T.V., allow yourself the simple pleasure of delighting all of your senses.

Fill your fridge with real food. When we’re busy and stressed, it’s natural to turn to junk food out of convenience and comfort. Doing so only takes a toll on your health. Try to stock up on greens, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains that are full of the vitamins and nutrients that you need to de-stress healthily.

Set up a staging area near the door. Make a point of putting down everything down that you have in your hands. Kick off your boots, hang up your coat, and leave the mail behind you to signal a shift from outside worries to the comfort of your home.

Switch off in the bedroom. Make your bedroom a no-technology zone. Electronics keep us awake and stimulate our minds, all of which can lead to a bad night’s sleep!  Resist the temptation!  I know you can do it.
