Decorating Tips for a Good Night’s Sleep

Sleep soundly with decor that promotes relaxation.

Feeling well-rested in the morning seems to be a good fortune that only a few experience. Many of us complain about not getting enough sleep or feeling drained when we rise each morning. Without a peaceful space, getting a good night’s sleep is nearly impossible.

You can make sleep a priority by decorating your bedroom to optimize a hearty slumber. With a better night’s sleep, you’re able to face the world rested and ready.

Suggestions to promote a good night include the following:

Add relaxing colors.

How many massage parlors do you know that are decorated with fire engine red walls or electric blue décor? Similarly, colors in the bedroom should promote peace and rest. Consider using quiet and muted colors, and decorate your room with accessories in neutrals and soft shades.

Sweep for good sleep.

Getting rid of clutter can provide clarity of mind. At night, a messy bedroom will affect your relaxation. Even if you don’t see it, you know the clutter is ever present. Don’t just sweep everything under the bed or pack it in a closet. Instead, organize your belongings, remove items that don’t serve a positive purpose, and eliminate distractions such as overflowing dressers.

Plan lighting wisely.

Do you have the bright light bulbs in your room? Time to replace them! Lowered lighting sends signals to our brains that the day has come to a close. Mimic a setting sun in your overhead fixtures and bedside lamps by dimming the lights about an hour before bed. While you’re at it, add blackout liners on draperies to prevent the early morning sun from disrupting your sleep.
