5 Signs It’s Time to Redo Your Bathroom

Could it be time to update and remodel your bathroom?

If you’re like me, you’d love to make a change to my master bathroom.   With a bathroom remodel, it’s best to know where to begin. A bathroom should be inviting, relaxing and comfortable. It should be the best environment for a relaxing soak after a busy, hectic day. If a poor design layout, inadequate lighting, or faulty fixtures prevent you from feeling your best in your sanctuary, it could be time for some changes.

Here are five signs that your bathroom needs a bit of TLC:

The décor is worn out. This may go unnoticed by the actual homeowner overtime, but guests may notice that your bathroom needs a serious makeover. If your bathroom is looking a little gloomy or the wallpaper or wall color is severely outdated, it could signal that it is time to remodel.

Your needs are changing. Think about the luxuries that you most want in a bathroom. When your family grows or your kids move out of the house, your needs will change. Whether you need a peaceful place or an area with tons of storage – adapt your bathroom to your needs.  Did you only use your tub for the kids when they were small?  Would you prefer a stand-alone shower that has some many shower heads that you feel like you’re in a deluxe car wash?  My dream shower includes a steam feature!

There’s no storage space. Are you constantly looking in other parts of the house for toilet paper and bath products that you had to store outside of your bathroom due to lack of storage space?  Wouldn’t it be great to unload your COSTCO bathroom supplies to a linen closet or cabinet in your bathroom?

There’s obvious damage. Are you still only using the cold water at your sink because the hot water knob is broken?  If you noticed that part of your bathroom is damaged, take the time to get it fixed. Especially look out for water damage to walls, ceiling, or floor. Other common bathroom concerns to address include leaking faucets, chipped or cracked tiles, leaking pipes, and mold.

You’re planning to sell. If you plan to sell off the house soon, take stock of your current bathroom situation and what could use an upgrade or update. Many buyers look at the bathrooms before they make a choice on whether to buy. Talk to a real estate agent to find out the benefits that come along with a bathroom remodel. Even simple upgrades such as new lighting and fixtures can add instant value to your home.
